Designing for adults is a very different skill to painting a specific character. Instead of recreating a picture, we'll explore how to create balanced, flattering compositions that reflect your client's personality, whether they're looking for something bold, elegant, whimsical or dramatic.
This three-hour workshop is designed for face painters, body painters, makeup artists and special effects artists who already have a solid understanding of water-based face painting and want to develop their skills for painting adults. We'll focus on composition, layering, colour placement and embellishments, building a toolkit of techniques that can be adapted to suit each individual client.
Rather than teaching set designs to copy, we'll explore a collection of design elements that can be mixed and matched to create your own unique style. The emphasis is on understanding why a design works, giving you the confidence to create beautiful free-flowing festival and adult face paint designs that feel bespoke rather than repetitive.
We'll be working with one-stroke techniques, linework, script liners and embellishments throughout the evening, so you'll leave with practical skills you can immediately use on festival clients, photoshoots, events and parties.
This is an intermediate workshop and we'll be building on existing skills rather than teaching the basics.
To get the most from the class, you should already be comfortable:
If you're unsure whether this class is the right level for you, you're very welcome to get in touch before booking. Feel free to email us with any questions or send a few photos of your work, and we'll happily let you know if it's the right fit.
All materials are provided, so you don't need to bring anything to take part.
If you already have a face painting kit, you're welcome to bring your own brushes and paints if you'd like to practise with the equipment you normally use. It's completely optional, and you'll have full access to all of the materials provided during the workshop.
