Cut & Paint is a weekly mixed media journaling group where we explore collage, scrapbooking, art journaling and creative experimentation using paint, paper, stickers, stamps, found images and a huge range of art materials.

Interested in art journaling, mixed media, collage or scrapbooking, but not sure where to start?

Cut & Paint is a relaxed weekly mixed media journaling group for adults. We provide the materials, inspiration and workspace; you bring your ideas (or borrow some of ours).

Using collage papers, magazines, paint, inks, stickers, stamps, stencils and found images, you'll create journal pages, experiment with new materials and build a collection of work over time.

No experience necessary. No pressure to be artistic. Just a couple of hours each week dedicated to making things.

Some people come to chat and share ideas. Others work quietly and disappear into their journals for a couple of hours. Both are completely welcome.

If you've been meaning to do something creative but can't quite get yourself to start, this is a place to show up and do it.

Whether you draw every day, haven't made anything since school, love stationery, enjoy scrapbooking, keep a sketchbook, collect stickers, or simply want a creative evening away from your phone, you're welcome here.

Tea, snacks and a table full of interesting art supplies included.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be good at art?

No. This isn't about skill or creating a perfect finished piece. It's about making time to be creative and seeing where it takes you.

Do I need to bring a journal?

No. You're welcome to bring your own, but there will always be paper and journals available to help you get started.

Can I bring my own materials or project?

Absolutely. Many people bring favourite pens, brushes, journals or projects they're already working on.

What if I just want to sit quietly and do my own thing?

That's completely fine. Some people chat, some people work quietly. There's no pressure either way.

I've always wanted to try art journaling, mixed media, collage or scrapbooking, but I don't know where to start.

Perfect. That's exactly why this group exists.

I'm doing The Artist's Way. Would this count as an Artist Date?

Absolutely. Many people find that regular creative time is one of the hardest things to maintain while working through The Artist's Way. Cut & Paint can be a great way to schedule a regular Artist Date, explore new materials and collect inspiration without the pressure of creating a finished piece.

Will I be the only person coming on my own?

Almost certainly not. Most people attend on their own, especially when they're coming for the first time. Some people chat loads, some people settle into their journals and work quietly. Both are completely normal and welcome.
