Valentine's Day: Ideas, Suggesions, and Notions

A Valentine’s Day theme is one of that turns up every year and quietly demands something - sometimes big and obvious, sometimes subtle and barely-there. Hearts, pinks, reds, shimmer, romance… or just a small nod that says yes, I understood the brief.

This isn’t a “how to do Valentine’s Day” post, it’s more of a jumping off point; a collection of ideas, products, and directions to help you translate whatever you’re picturing in your head onto skin.

Shop

Under the Shop Menu you'll find Shop by Interest > Valentine's Day

When creating the section for Valentine's Day, I stuck to some pretty stereotypical archetypes - pinks/reds, cutesy/naughty, heart shapes, etc.

The intersection between each of the products may not be to your own tastes or thoughts.

What shade of pink should I choose?

Pick your favourite. Honestly, there's no better substitute that your own personal taste.

For lighter pinks, I suggest PXP Soft Metallic Pink. For more solid bubble gum pinks try superstar Bubblegum, or Fusion pink. The most flexible pink is Magenta, because it becomes bubblegum pink with a bit of white paint, but it's also a very rich colour with a lot of depth.

There is a full selection of various Pink products if you Shop under Shop by Colour > Pink

Nails

There are some very cool bondage style Red and black false nails from "Never Have I Ever" that are perfect for a Valentine's Day theme.

Waterproof paint

Proaiir Paint is waterproof. It is actually airbrush paint, but it's also possible to use it with a brush and sponge.

Pasties

Cover those nips up properly (or not), with a selection of pasties in various styles and designs. Whether you will be showing them off or not, you should be able to feel as frisky as you like. Some pasties are more decorateive than covered up.

Whether you are a face painter, makeup artist, SFX artist, body painter, drag artist, raver, influencer, moon child, journaller, crafter, tea affectionado, or creative person - I hope you found something on this list that you didn't expect.

Dublin Body Paint's main focus is 'where art meets skin'. And I hope that I can help anyone along who is on that creative flow. You never know what will spark an idea for someone, so I try to cast a wide net with my themed categories. However, one man's spark is another man's forest fire as they say, so be safe.
