I occasionally take Transition Year work experience students here at Dublin Body Paint, so if you're interested, you're very welcome to get in touch.
As a small, one-person business, every week looks a little different. Some weeks I'm in the shop, some weeks I'm teaching, and other weeks I'm out working on events or creative projects. Because of that, I can't guarantee that I'll be able to take students every time, but I'm always happy to consider applications.
A placement here gives you an opportunity to see what it's like to run a small creative business. Depending on what's happening that week, you might get involved in things like:
Every placement is a little different, as it depends on what's happening at the time.
While I can sometimes offer a full week's placement, I'm also happy to consider shorter visits if that works better. Even spending a day or two in the studio can give you a good insight into the business.
School holidays, midterm breaks and Easter holidays are often the easiest times to arrange placements, as I'm usually teaching during term time.
If you have additional support needs, or usually complete work experience with an SNA or support worker, you're very welcome to apply. Every placement is different, so we'll simply have a conversation beforehand to make sure it's a good fit for everyone involved.
I'm a big believer in playing to people's strengths. Everyone enjoys different things, and everyone is good at different things, so I'll always try to find jobs that suit the person rather than expecting everyone to do exactly the same tasks.
Depending on what's happening that week, that could include things like:
I don't expect anyone to leave here wanting to become a face painter. In fact, most people probably won't! What I do hope is that you'll leave with a better understanding of how a creative business works, how many different skills go into running one, and maybe discover a few strengths you didn't know you had.
If you'd like to enquire about work experience, just send an email to [email protected] with:
I'll always do my best to accommodate requests where I can, but as placements are based around my work schedule, I can't guarantee availability.
I look forward to hearing from you!
About Dublin Body Paint
This is a very open minded, non judgemental and safe space, so we welcome applications from all gender expressions, sexual identities, disabilities etc. All applicants must also be similarly minded.
Maintaining the right energy in the space is very important in this tiny company. We're looking for someone sound, and up for a laugh, but who is also a ninja at their job.
"I have ADHD, so I have my own systems and ways of doing things that may not be typical. So, I want someone who isn't going to tip toe around me, or hold a grudge, or not talk to me if I make a mistake. It's important we're all on the same side."
