13th – 15th April 2018

We would like to introduce you to the new post Storm Emma Irish Body Painting Festival 2018! We would greatly appreciate if you could share this with your students and encourage them to enter the competition or come to the awards show on the 15th April. This competition is associated with the World Body Painting Association.

2018 will see the return of Irish Body Painting Festival. After postponing the festival in March due to Storm Emma we have now finalised our new line up.

Due to the success of last year and association with the World Body Painting Association along with wonderful sponsorship prizes we are now set to be bigger and better!

Along with small workshops on Friday and Saturday with international artists Tera Bakker and Francois Rose we will also have a retail area where you can enjoy browsing and purchasing all your favourite body paint products.

Our new location for Sundays competition is the historic Richmond Barracks in Inchicore and we have now expanded our body painting competition to include a student category.

We will cultivate a supportive and stress-free environment for the competition to ensure everyone produces their best work.

The competition awards show invites friends, family and all supporters from 7pm on Sunday 15th April. This show is sponsored by Gunpowder Gin and Poachers Well Tonic so a complimentary G&T will welcome guests. Enjoy a burlesque performance followed by the body painting awards show.

Francois Rose body painting workshop in Armour and Cyborgs

Winner of the face and body painting contests at the Brussels International Fantasy Film Festival in 2006, François has been teaching his art in Belgium, at the World Body Painting Festival and abroad since then.

“Starting from monster makeup in live action role playing games, François Rose has been extending his skills for more than 15 years in different types of events and backgrounds: private parties, entertainment and marketing industry, contests, and eventually fine art bodypainting.

His approach is mostly character-oriented: the model is not a simple 3D canvas, but a person with her own expressive potential.

Workshop description:

“Armour & Cyborg Bodypainting Achieving powerful effects with simple and fast brush & sponge techniques

Turning human skin into armoured or robotic surfaces requires the bodypainting to match the body structure, taking mobility into consideration. This workshop will focus on technical aspects such as composition, specific textures, 3D effects with lights and shadows, but also on artistic aspects such as style, personality and expression of your character. ”
